Usual adult dose

Usual adult dose: 150 to 450 mg every 6 hours with a full glass of water, usually for 7 to 10 days. Gel: apply thinly to acne once or twice a day. Finish the full course.

Your doctor may give you a different dose. Children's doses depend on weight.

Side effects

diarrhoea
nausea
stomach pain
metallic taste

Serious — get help

Stop taking it and see a doctor straight away if you notice:

severe
watery or bloody diarrhoea (even weeks after stopping)
severe skin rash
severe allergic reaction

Do not take it, or take care, if

Allergy to clindamycin or lincomycin
Previous severe diarrhoea with antibiotics
Severe liver disease (use with caution)
